The game of basketball and discipleship ?

Basketball is my favorite sport. Back in the day, I wanted to play for the Wolverines. Didn't happen! What did happen is that I became a minister and connected the dots between balling and discipling. Click here for the Intro Video that connects the two.

Based on the video, answer the following three questions and submit your answers by email no later than Friday, June 30, 2012. Send to jtedmerson@united.edu .Write at least 50 words per question.

Quiz:
1. What does basketball and discipleship have in common?
2. Name three functions of a "good" coach and relate those traits to a spiritual coach (discipler).
3. How important is one's fruit in establishing the authority to disciple others? As a coach, must I show that I understand the process of growing and maturing in order to help others?

Activity:
Search the web for 2 articles that illustrate the concept of discipleship in a non-religious context. Write a 50 word description and send the articles and description by email on Friday, July 6, 2012, 9 PM.

Discipleship what it is and is not...

The purpose of this blog is to create a forum where we can post and comment about various aspects of the disciple-making process. The expectation is that you will post a comment twice every two weeks to the thought leader for each original post. (Everyone in the class will be a thought leader, eventually.) These posts-comments should be limited to no more than 40 words and must not be read as a cursory reply like, "great post", etc. The expectation is that you will read, reflect and post accordingly. End each post with your initials.
